The article is an appeal for the inclusion of women in the watershed development process. The approaches recommended are: recognize women farmers; increase participation of women in the community development; and include women in decision-making processes. This implies a gender focus that will benefit and facilitate economic empowerment of women as well as men's willingness to share the control of the resources. The paper provides a list of guiding principles.en
