Golf courses within the state of Virginia vary widely ' from coastal courses with ocean views to mountain courses with panoramic views. Protection of the state's ecosystems by following these recommended best management practices is a responsibility Virginia's golf course superintendents take seriously. The efforts in developing and using this document demonstrate the commitment that Virginia's golf course superintendents have towards environmental stewardship and their partnership with the staff of state regulatory agencies, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University turfgrass faculty, experienced golf course superintendents, and other members of the private sector who partnered with us to help develop these voluntary guidelines for enhancing the environment on Virginia's golf courses.
