This report discusses the first year findings of a proposed three year investigation effort that focuses on the assessment and prediction of software quality. The research exploits fundamental linkages among software engineering Objectives, Principles and Attributes (the OPA framework). Process, code and document quality indicators are presented relative to the OPA framework, with elaboration on their individual roles in assessing and predicting software quality. The synthesis of an Ada code analyzer is discussed as well as proposed complementary tools comprising an automated data collection and report generation system. Key Words and Phrases: Simulation quality assessment and prediction; software engineering objectives, principles and attributes; software quality indicators, process indicators, code indicators, document quality indicators.en
