Using gender research in development: Food security in practice

Abstract

This guide presents research from several countries in IFPRI's research program on gender and intrahousehold relations, using quantitative and qualitative methods. It examines the implications of these issues in the success of development initiatives and suggestions for integrating gender research in projects and policy. The guide is divided into the following sections: the importance of using gender and intrahousehold research to inform projects and policies; gender and intrahousehold aspects of food policy: research findings for development projects; and weaving gender research into project design and public policy: implications of the research results.
