dc.description.abstract | The Virginia dark-fired tobacco industry is at a crossroads in its existence. Decisions made and actions taken in the marketing of our tobacco will help determine the future of the industry. Decreases in product utilization and manufacturer inventories have cut market demand, caused allotment reductions, and eroded grower income. Large pool stocks and the resulting high no-net-cost assessment fee have further reduced profitability in recent years. | en |
