Abstract

A study conducted across 5000 hotels across the United States indicated that 64% of hotel employees are making under $15 an hour. Owners across the hotel industry could be negatively impacted if President Biden is able to pass a $15 hour minimum wage deal. The increase in wage with the fall of ADR, due to COVID-19, will crush smaller franchisees. Experts suggest the increase in minimum wage will decrease the recovery of the hotel industry.
