Abstract
"Benthic" refers to the aquatic organisms living in or on the bottom of a body of water. Waters in which the benthic community is degraded violate Virginia's water quality standard and are considered to have "benthic impairment." publication explains how benthic impairments are determined and how this relates to the TMDL process.
