Abstract

For approximately 160,000 years, Earth s conditions have been in favor for humankind, thank to the biospheric life support system. Currently, anthropogenic wastes, from hazardous chemicals to carbon dioxide, are damaging the biospheric life support system at a rate unprecedented in human history. Even though scientific evidence of global heating and other types of climate change is overwhelming, unsustainable practices continue and consequences worsen. Humankind may suffer horrendous even before it accepts responsibility for the severe, possibly irreversible, damage to the biospheric life support system.
