Some environmental consequences of interaction of agropastoralism in Rahad Pastoral Area (Sudan)
Abstract
Signs of desertification have begun to appear in the Rahad area, due to the conflict between agricultural, pastoral, and other resources. The main reason behind this resource conflict is considered to be the absence of a proper land use policy. The existing policy is biased towards agricultural activity and completely neglects other activities e.g. livestock, rangelands, and forestry. An integrated land use pattern is proposed which takes into account all competing resources in the area. (CAB Abstract)
