Why a Mach 5 passenger plane is a crazy idea that might just work

Hermeus is an American startup building a hypersonic passenger plane capable of traveling at Mach 5 which would allow for a flight time of 90 minutes from New York to London. Although the use of hypersonic travel would not be possible over land masses due to sonic booms, it would be beneficial in the transatlantic market.
