Abstract

Chapter 17 provides a historical agro-ecology analysis that aims to better understand local perceptions of declining agricultural production and attempts to uncover potential causes of this decreased productivity. This was accomplished through a combination of research methods that studied individuals living in five indigenous communities. Across these communities, common struggles identified are a history of exploitation and evolving systems of land tenure.
