Revitalizing agricultural research for global food security
Abstract
Despite the growing number of world citizens facing hunger, funding for agricultural research has declined significantly. The author of this article calls for a "revitalization" of this research within developing countries, citing the US land grant institutions as major change-makers in research, extension, and capacity building. He argues that increased funding and capacity building within developing countries themselves in this area is crucial to global food security and overall sustainability.
