dc.description.abstractVAS and the Commonwealth Games are new. In staging the games, the need has arisen to attract the very best athletes that the Commonwealth has to offer. The purpose of this manual is to alleviate the problems that VAS has in contacting sanctioning bodies for the Commonwealth Games. The idea of State Games has rapidly gained momentum Since its inception. State Games have been shown to have enormous impact on both the athletes and the cities that play host to the Games. By holding the Games, a city such as Roanoke, stands to bolster its economy. With sport-spectatorship on the rise and a successful running of the Commonwealth Games, Roanoke hopes to become a major sports city. The procedures followed to obtain appropriate information and the design of the directory were described. The directory of sport organizations and registration procedure is included.en
