In this paper we present the multi-agent modeling tools which we believe to be appropriate for the representation of ecological and social dynamics, which state modeling problems in terms of representations, communication, and controls and which provide a good exploratory modeling medium. We will then examine modeling methods for collective management of common property using multi-agent systems. Finally, we will discuss how theses simulations can be used to study the problems of long-term resource management.en
