Natural Resources and Social Conflicts in the Sahel: Proceedings of the 5th Sahel Workshop, 4-6 January 1993

Eighteen papers (15 in English and three in French) are presented from this workshop held at Sandbjerg Manor, Denmark. Topics discussed were divided into three major groups: social conflicts, management of natural resources, and food and cash crop production. Individual topics not mentioned above include production of Acacia gum, education in Burkina Faso, exchange rate policy in sub-Saharan Africa, natural forest management, the effect of world market frozen meat imports on West African trade in livestock products, gender relations and economic transformations in Niger, demographic changes and schistosomiasis, trees and sustainable rural production, pastoralism, agrosilvopastoralism, food security and pest management.
