dc.description.abstract | The concept of sustainable use of the planet receives some attention, but very little interest has been shown in any system-level discussion about the transition from unsustainable to sustainable practices. The transition period will be painful at best; however, if nothing substansive is done, human deaths and suffering could occur on a major scale. If humankind whishes to leave a habitable planet for posterity and minimize human suffering, extended discussions of the transistion period must begin now. | en |
