Abstract
The objective of this review is to synthesize the state of knowledge regarding the positive and potential negative impacts of fertilizer use in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), in the context of USAID and other assistance programs. The study is intended to shed light on some of the dilemmas which arise in the intensification of agriculture, and to provide insights towards improving sustainable agriculture and natural resource management programming
