dc.description.abstract | The Microelectronic and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC) Extensible Software Platform is an object-oriented system which allows for distributed processing over heterogeneous platforms with a similar processor architecture. A port was proposed for the Sequent Symmetry which would: [1] Be the first port of ESP to an Intel 80x86 based system [2] Be the first port of ESP to a UNIX-based multi-processor system [3] Develop and use a shared-memory mailer between local nodes In performing the port, the GNU C++ compiler with MCC additions was required to run on the Sequent. The ESP system was then subsequently ported and the shared-memory system implemented. This report describes the process and results thereof. | en |
