Quito, the capital of Ecuador, obtains their drinking water from watersheds located inside and adjacent to the Condor Bioreserve. While the city consumes 7m^3 water/second, they only manage to recover 54% of the costs from water bills. In order to ensure sufficient supplies of water for future growth, the municipality and the utility are looking for ways to protect the source areas.en
