Abstract

54% of the jobs lost as of December 2020 were jobs that had previously been held by women. In addition to extended job loss, women have been taking on the extra duties of childcare throughout the pandemic. Forbes noted travel jobs taking the biggest hit and the adverse opportunity for the travel industry to rebuild with the main focus of adding women to senior positions. Dorothy Dowling called on the hospitality industry to push the conversation around women leadership to the forefront of every industry as most are looking to economically recover from the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic into 2021.
