Abstract
WMAs are intervillage associations developed by the Tanzanian government through the Wildlife Division. They are situated in tracts of village or district land rich in wildlife and other natural resources set aside for community based conservation and management. The financial gain originating from the Wildlife Managements areas are supposed to go back to the local people so they can support their sustainable resource management. A number of WMA's have developed deals with private donors. The Mbomipa WMA returns 50% of the money earned back into the operating costs of the WMA for items like game scouts.
