The Federal Assembly created the Swiss Foundation for the Conservation of Cultural Landscapes (FLS, Fonds Landschaft Schweiz) in 1991. The aim of the FLS is to conserve or rebuild historical, cultural and natural landscapes, traditional and sustainable agricultural management practices, and historical buildings and roads. The aim is to support projects which are economically less feasible than potential landscape-destroying alternatives. The organization receives funding from the federal state budget, cantons, local communities, industry, and citizens.en
