Abstract

This study assesses soil translocation caused by ox-drawn and plough tillage in the highlands of Ethiopia, quantifying rates of soil translocation, erosion, and deposition from tillage. The study sites were chosen to cover a range of slopes using stone bunds for soil conservation. The factors controlling tillage erosion are analyzed and the relative contributions of water and tillage erosion are determined.
