Abstract
This article presents the issue of land degradation from an economic point-of-view, and discusses how cost-benefit analysis can help improve land management practices. Land degradation, which is defined by the loss of land productivity, is perpetuated by many forces, including market failure and policy failure. With quality economic analysis, land managers can potentially improve the quality of their soil, which can increase crop production and address the issue of food security.
