The case involves a pastoral management zone in Western Burkina Faso where conflicts have arisen between the native and immigrant farming populations vs. transhumant pastoral populations. As a result of explosive population growth in the area, the pastoralists are being excluded from traditional pasture zones that have been taken over by the farmers. More importantly, they have also been excluded from access to water points for their animals due to the encroachment of agricultural production.en
