A survey conducted by the MMGY Global indicated, the sadly unsurprising results, that Black tourism is extremely undervalued in the United States. Domestically, Black Americans spent 458.2 billon dollars towards U.S. leisure travel market in 2019. However, 84% of the 4,800 survey applicants noted that they have attended a meeting or been to a destinated that they were not welcomed or felt uncomfortable because of the color of their skin. The goal of the study is to shine light on the continued inequality of Black leisure travelers throughout the hospitality and tourism industries.en
