Four chlorinated phenyltricyanoethylenes were synthesized and reacted with vanadium hexacarbonyl to form ferrimagnetic coordination polymers.Species chlorinated at the 2, 3, or 4 position of the ring as well as a dichlorinated analogue with substitution at both the 2 and 6 positions were examined. The magnetic ordering temperatures of the polymers were reproducible and ranged from 140 to 288 K. All compounds displayed soft ferrimagnetic behavior, and their structure-property relationships are discussed.en
