Abstract

The Lake Chilwa Wetland and Catchment Management Project evaluated the total economic value of the surrounding wetland environmental services. The five environmental services were agricultural grounds, fish, vegetation, open water, and grasslands and were valued at US$ 21,056,392. Additionally, some of the local-level Beach Village Committees collect fishing license fees and distribute the benefits to the local community.
