dc.description.abstractThe work of the Centre for Economic Botany at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, is summarized focusing on the Survey of Economic Plants for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. SEPASAL is a major computer database of the plant resources of drylands with records for c. 6000 species; it provides information to development organizations and research workers and aims to highlight those plants of greatest potential. An extensive upgrade and expansion of the database are underway.en
