The strategic direction of the next generation of office automation hardware and software needed by an integrated government/contractor team supporting a classified defense installation is analyzed. Both existing platform upgrades and potential replacement platforms are evaluated against management constraints and system requirements to select the most cost-efficient design that meets the office automation requirements. An integrated SUN and personal computer networked environment is selected due to minimal impacts to current operations and lower cost. The migration strategy addresses the phases necessary to ensure a smooth transition from the current system to the new system.en
