- Electroacoustic properties of < 110 >-oriented Pb-(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-PbTiO3 crystals under uniaxial stressViehland, Dwight D.; Li, Jiefang; Gittings, K.; Amin, A. (AIP Publishing, 2003-07-01)The electromechanical properties of [110]-oriented 0.7Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-0.3PbTiO(3) crystals have been investigated under uniaxial stress (sigma). [110]-oriented crystals have a longitudinal electromechanical coupling coefficient (k(33)) of similar to0.9 and an acoustic power density of 12 dB which decreases to 8 dB with increasing sigma between 0 and 4x10(7) N/m(2). The results demonstrate that the advantages in terms of power density and coupling coefficient of oriented piezocrystals are not constrained to the [001]-orientation, but rather can also be obtained along the [110]. - Spatialities of globalisationAmin, A. (Great Britain: Pion Publishing, 2001)This theoretical article attempts to build the concept of space into the discussion of globalization. Amin reveals how globalization is a function of the "deepening and stretching of social relations across space and time" through the increased connectivity of actor networks in such a way that allows seemingly small actions to have significant impacts in other parts of the world. The reality of this conceptualization is demonstrated through a discussion of the urban economy in the globalized society.
