The report serves as an important resource not only for Minority-Serving Institutions, but the higher education community in general for guidance on developing better assessments to track improvements in student learning outcomes.

    The assessment of student learning is something more than a box to check off on the way to “passing accreditation.” Done well, it can strengthen institutional effectiveness and advance inclusive excellence, not only within Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs), but across higher education more generally. This report seeks to address the question that inevitably arises when conceptualizing the assessment of student learning: How can institutions gather credible evidence of what students know and can do as a result of their college education?
