Roughly 71% of the U.S. population support targeted relief to the hotel industry. Although domestic leisure travel continues to be a bright spot of the industry, the industry cannot survive without group or business travel. Hotels are currently on track to end 2021 without 500,000 jobs that were previously held by employees before the COVID-19 pandemic. Targeted relief can help restore and save the hotel industry.
- AHLA Released Hotel Industry Employment and Job Loss DataLodging Magazine (Lodging Magazine, 2021-05-03)The American Hotel & Lodging Associated released new data noting the projected hardest hit states economically by the COVID-19 pandemic are California, Florida, Nevada, New York, and Hawaii. These five states heavily depend on business and group travel to generate revenue and favorable financial positions each year. The article details a study done by Oxford Economics highlights that for every 10 people directly employed by a hotel, there are 26 remaining jobs that are sustained because of the hotel business. Unfortunately, the hotel industry will not be on the true road to recovery until business and group travel re-emerge.

Rogers believes the vaccination will add an extra blanket of security to hotel staff that are already doing all they can to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Marriott is hopeful these extended options will boost group travel heading into 2021.

Since it's launch in September, the app has received a 5 star rating in the Apple App Store and continues to impress guests. The app has expanded Wyndham's services by providing in-stay features, personalized experiences, Wyndham rewards account management, gamification, and their lightning book feature.
