- Black U.S. Leisure Travelers Spent $109.4 Billion on Travel in 2019 According to New ReportMMGY Global (MMGY Global, 2020-11-19)A survey conducted by the MMGY Global indicated, the sadly unsurprising results, that Black tourism is extremely undervalued in the United States. Domestically, Black Americans spent 458.2 billon dollars towards U.S. leisure travel market in 2019. However, 84% of the 4,800 survey applicants noted that they have attended a meeting or been to a destinated that they were not welcomed or felt uncomfortable because of the color of their skin. The goal of the study is to shine light on the continued inequality of Black leisure travelers throughout the hospitality and tourism industries.
- New International Study Shows U.S. Black Travelers Are More Influenced By Concerns About Safety And Representation In Marketing Than European Black TravelersMMGY Global (MMGY Global, 2021-01-13)A recent study conducted by the MMGY Global indicated the largest concern for Black travelers within North America is safety. 54% of the 3,635 leisure travelers that were survey noted that the marketing of a destination sways their decision to travel. Additionally, the inspiration of travel is primarily relaxation and educational entertainment.
