    Virginia Tech’s Crisis and Emergency Management Plan (CEMP), is a reference tool used to provide guidance to campus personnel responding to an emergency. The CEMP addresses requirements set forth in Section 23-9.2:9, Code of Virginia, as amended. Departmental Emergency Action Plans and Continuity of Operations Plans, as well as campus-wide Continuity of Operations Plans, all support the CEMP. Virginia Tech Emergency Management is responsible for the ongoing administration and revision of the CEMP. The plan must be reviewed by high-level campus staff annually and fully revised every four years.

This novel coronavirus pandemic has been dynamic and challenging to the Virginia Tech community and the institution. This plan recognizes the many unknowns in the public health realm, and balances those with the knowns in higher education: community, innovation, and resiliency. This plan provides specific approaches and mitigation strategies to optimize the educational and research experiences with currently known public health guidance, on-campus impacts of the fall 2020 semester, and the projected impacts of COVID-19 through the end of calendar year 2020.
