Abstract
Floyd County, located in the Blue Ridge province of the southwestern part of Virginia, is a major crossroads of cultural and heritage tourism. Rolling hills, with valleys and ridges, stretches of grazing lands, and acres of forest areas characterize the landscape of the county. The Blue Ridge Parkway is on the eastern border of the county and the Crooked Road Music Trail transects it.
Trails in Floyd (TIF), a citizen advocacy group for trails in Floyd County, requested the assistance of the Community Design Assistance Center (CDAC) to help them query the public and develop a conceptual trail corridor comprehensive plan identifying existing and potential trail corridors for outdoor recreation in Floyd County.
