dc.description.abstractThis presentation highlights the first year of exploration into a possible Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative at the University Libraries, Virginia Tech. Key messages to convey while raising OER awareness include: copyright, open licensing, Creative Commons, OER availability and retrieval, adaptation and innovation, understanding one's institution, and pedagogy. Various events and activities of VT Libraries are mentioned in addition to resources for OER librarian support, library characteristics that make OER a good fit for library involvement, current challenges, ideas and suggested reading.en
