Abstract
This PowerPoint summarizes the research and training activities of SANREM’s regional project in the Andes. It describes a mobile nitrogen index developed by the project. The presentation describes research results which indicate that conservation agriculture in Ecuador and Bolivia can save labor, improve yields, and increase soil retention, but there are still significant impediments to adoption. The slides provide data on crop yields from various experiments in the Illangama and Alumbre watersheds and on studies of phosphorous absorption in Andisols.
