Abstract
Thanksgiving travel breaths a small amount of life back into the hotel industry, specifically drive-to, leisure, and warm weather destinations. Key West, Vail, and Santa Barbra were at almost 50% occupancy over the holiday week and Sedona and Moad were up to 80% occupancy. Unfortunately, these trends do not reflect the remainder of the country's hotel occupancy landscape. Many industry leaders, including Chip Rogers, CEO of AHLA, warn the most gruesome economic stretch of the pandemic for hoteliers will be between December and April, when the vaccine will hopefully be widely distributed to the American public.
