In the market but not of it?: Fair trade coffee and forest stewardship council certification as market-based market reform
Abstract
This paper looks at two prominent, highly successful initiatives, Fair Trade coffee and FSC certification and labeling, and proposes a preliminary framework for assessing the use of market-based instruments to ameliorate the market's own negative social and environmental impacts.
