dc.description.abstract | This report documents how the VT-Renewable Energy Facility Siting (VT-REFS) team worked closely with stakeholders to create a concept plan for up to a 21 MWac, nameplate, utility-scale solar facility in Catawba, Virginia. The Catawba Sustainability Center would host 3.1 MW and the Catawba Hospital would host 17.9 MW. If the project is developed, the facility would be the largest built by an institution of higher education. This scale creates an opportunity to advance a world-class research facility that combines research, teaching, clean energy production, agriculture (agriphotovoltaics) (i.e., beef cattle, sheep, and food production), certificate programs, and student and local employment. | en |
