Our project ‘Advanced Open-Source Intelligence Platform to Combat Misinformation on Social Media’ aligns well with Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) and Virginia Tech's collaborative goals by utilizing OSINT techniques to support the public good. Public Good Applications: By leveraging OSINT techniques, the system tags tweets as "True" or "False" using a ground-truth validation mechanism supported by the Google News API. This helps users discern reliable information in real time. The sentiment classifier identifies tweets as "Positive" or "Negative," fostering healthier engagement in online discussions and interactions. Integration of OSINT Techniques: It integrates essential components such as OSINT data collection via Twitter APIs, web scraping, and crowdsourcing capabilities for data verification, and AI/ML-driven solutions for classification and clustering challenges. The classifiers employ natural language processing and machine learning models for accurate content and sentiment analysis, ensuring minimal bias through feedback loops for continuous improvement. A cloud-based integration ensures up-to-date analysis for users, with scalable deployment to handle increased workloads. Addressing Key Considerations: The platform adheres to critical considerations like data privacy, security, scalability, and user collaboration. User inputs and public data are securely processed, with no personally identifiable information collected or stored. The cloud-native architecture powered by Amazon Web Services(AWS) supports future growth, allowing for the addition of new product features or data sources. An intuitive browser extension and web interface ensure ease of use, providing users with actionable insights directly within their workflows. Through this platform, we aim to showcase the practical application of OSINT methodologies in combating misinformation, reflecting Boeing's emphasis on innovation, data integrity, and leveraging technology for societal benefit. Our effort highlights the relevance and impact of leveraging OSINT tools for practical, scalable solutions to societal challenges.en
The AI-powered Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) platform addresses the critical issue of misinformation on social media platforms, such as Twitter, by leveraging advanced Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques. This platform enables real-time analysis of textual data to detect and combat fake news, hate speech, and manipulated media. Its primary goal is to contribute to a safer and more reliable social media ecosystem by providing tools to identify misinformation, analyze its societal impact, and mitigate its spread effectively.en
