Abstract
AHLA conducted a survey with Morning Consultant surveying roughly 2,000 adults. Unfortunately, the results were not positive, but not surprising given the state of the U.S. hotel industry. 29% of respondents stated they would not travel to an urban or city location this summer and 73% are uninterested in traveling in general. Although the leisure market continues to be a lifeline for the hotel industry, the need for business and group travel to recover is dire. Business travel remains down 85% of what it we pre-pandemic levels, while the unemployment rate across the hospitality sector is 225% higher than the rest of the economy's unemployment rate. AHLA is hopeful the Save Hotel Jobs Act, which was partnered with UNITE Here, will be the answer the hotel industry desperately needs.
