dc.description.abstract | The RAPID code system utilizes a novel combined fission matrix methodology to rapidly solve the whole-core eigenvalue problem. To represent axial and radial reflector regions, the fission density distribution in the boundary assemblies, a fission density correction factor methodology was devised and demonstrated. Although, accurate results were achieved, because of the need for a full core Monte Carlo calculation, this technique requires significant computing resources. To address this issue, this paper introduces a novel FM based methodology, which achieves accurate results, however at very small computing expense.
