Abstract
Four insecticides, cypermethrin, fenvalerate, permethrin and phenothrin were employed to study the inheritance of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides in the Seasons strain of Blattella germanica. This resistance was found to be an autosomal, probably monofactorial character, not linked with the black body or orange body mutants that identify linkage groups 4 and 6.
The trait was found to be incompletely recessive with a degree of dominance of -0.57. It was established that the gene is probably separate and distinct from the known trait R-pyreth, a pyrethrins resistance gene linked with black body in the linkage map of this organism.
Future studies are recommended to further delineate this resistance and suggestions are made for possible avenues to pursue.
