Dreamfaire is a novel consisting of a series of interlocking mysteries, investigated by one Annabelle Bonpland. It combines elements of detective fiction, speculative/science fiction, satire, and literary fiction in order to tell a complex, formally experimental story, the solution to which raises questions about the nature of reality. The formal changes help to place the novel in conversation with the modern world, through the inclusion of text messages and forum posts, besides less common forms of communication, while the integration of film noir and the golden age of American animation references helps to connect it to American culture beyond the written page.en
