Abstract

Baby I'm the Haunted House is a poetry collection that documents survival and witnesses the progress of the speaker's process towards acceptance of confrontation of their familial, generational, sexual, and religious abuses. These poems use Millennial American pop culture to highlight the narrator's positionality as diametrically opposed to the straight, white norm. With a combination of poetic forms and a multimodal use of photographs from the narrator's life, this collection insists on the presence of the self through a physical manifestation. A nonlinear timeline is grounded through photographs to resolidify the mere power in existence.
