dc.description.abstract | Black Metropolis is a poetry collection that captures a black urban landscape. In remixing form and syntax, the collection zooms in on real people, their language, and their culture. The collection ultimately tells the story of a place and people that are familiar with the struggles of capitalism and carry the weight of their histories in their daily conversations and interactions. The poems also emphasize how a Black Metropolis is not a monolith, instead it is our familial connections, bodies, religious affiliations, gender and sexuality, access to education and wealth, that make us all unique, but also binds us together. | en |
