The Reconnection Project is much less of a defined project, and much more of a framework to reference the psychological, physiological, and social needs of humanity and to propose a new framework for urban and city design that balances the needs of humanity without excessive compaction and a respect for definition of space and nature. For the purpose of this project, Phoenix Arizona, one of the most isolating cities in the United States, was selected to be re-imagined as an urban landscape that encourages connection rather than isolation.en
American cities suffer from a great lack of social cohesion, connection to the natural, and a unique presence of place that references the local cultural and environmental conditions. The over reliance on car-centric urban design has eroded the human connection to all facets of life to the detriment of every aspect of life. Physical and mental health crises run rampant as a result, and the proposed framework intends to begin the mending processes by restoring these connections to humanity. The Reconnection Project looks towards ancient urban traditions, and modern European urban designs to assemble a productive, health and wellness inducing, safe framework for the future of the American Urban environment.en
